The Lake of the Ozarks restaurant long known as JJ's At The Copper Pot has been bought by the owners of The Tavern at Trail's End, and will be reopening this spring as The Tavern Trattoria, with Chef John Buchanan's unique twists on Italian food.

The Tavern Trattoria will be restauranteurs John and Sherri Buchanan's third new restaurant at the Lake in four years.

They opened The Tavern at Trail's End in 2021 and found rapid success as the "hidden gem" of the West side, at their down-a-gravel-road spot in one of the oldest buildings at the Lake.

Then in 2022, the couple bought Smokin' Jones BBQ in Camdenton from another popular local chef, Mike Jones, who had opted to focus his efforts on his Jones' Chophouse in Osage Beach (formerly The Bullpen.) They quickly reopened it as The Tavern Smokehouse.

Now, The Tavern Trattoria is set to open before the busy summer season at the Lake. John and Sherri are targeting late-April, but don't know an exact open date yet. (Watch The Tavern Trattoria's Facebook page as well as LakeExpo.com for opening information.)

The soon-to-open Tavern Trattoria is located at 630 N. Main, Laurie, Mo. 65037.

Here's a peek at a few items Chef John is already planning for The Tavern Trattoria menu.

Gamberi Grigliati

Prosciutto wrapped prawns with red chili pesto over savory soft polenta.

Arancini

Stuffed with house smoked pork belly and roasted garlic with Arrabbiata sugo

Lobster Ravioli

House made jumbo Ravioli with a fried sage brown butter and shaved pecorino.

Cannoli Neapolitan

For dessert!
