Helping kids at Lake of the Ozarks never sounded so good.
Sponsored by Ozark Coast Kiwanis and Wonderland Camp, the three-day Rocktober Battle of the Bands will bring live music to The Encore Lakeside Grill & Sky Bar, Oct. 23-25, 2026, while raising money for both organizations.
The idea came together as Kiwanis looked for another way to raise money for children in the Lake area, particularly older kids whose needs can sometimes be harder to fill at Christmas. A similar event had been held locally in the past, so the group decided to bring the concept back as a new fall fundraiser.
Organizers are still looking for more bands! Contact ozarkskiwanis@gmail.com to sign up for Rocktober.
Rocktober Battle Of The Bands
When: Sat – Sun, Oct. 24–25; start time TBD based on number of bands; Fri., Oct. 23 may be added if more bands register
Where: The Encore
Cost: $10/person
From country and classic rock to solo, duo, and trio performers, attendees will get to hear a variety of music and vote for their favorites.
Each act will perform a 45-minute set, with sound and lighting provided by the Encore. There will also be cash prizes for the best performers and a spot on the Encore's entertainment calendar next year!
Daily admission is $10 and includes 10 votes. After that, every additional $1 donated equals another vote. Winners will receive a trophy and bragging rights, while the money raised helps support Ozark Coast Kiwanis and Wonderland Camp.
Kiwanis supports Lake-area children through scholarships, youth activities, and grants to nonprofits serving kids, including Wonderland Camp. Allen said the organization continues to see unmet needs, especially among older children around Christmas.
"Everybody needs a gift at Christmas," Kiwanis member Marilyn Allen said.Â
Money raised through Rocktober will help Kiwanis continue supporting children and families at Christmas and throughout the year, while also benefiting Wonderland Camp and its work serving children and adults with disabilities.
Kiwanis is also still seeking sponsors for the Battle of the Bands. Stage Partners can sponsor the event for $400, which includes seating for four, while Headliners can sponsor for $600, with seating for six.

Organizers hope Rocktober can eventually become an annual event alongside longtime Kiwanis fundraisers like Duck Drop and Christmas for Kids.
"There's so much need right now in our community," Allen said. "Come out and have fun."
