LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Sunday's severe storms with high winds brought more than a dozen tornados across Illinois and Missouri. The National Weather Service investigated two potential tornadoes around the Lake area and found that both qualified as moderate tornados, with one causing significant damage.

Just northwest of Richland, Mo., an EF-1 tornado (considered moderate on the Enhanced Fujita Scale) with maximum winds of 90 mph tore the roof off of a home, and a barn was also damaged. Multiple trees were uprooted with several large tree limbs snapped off as the tornado travelled 2.1 miles across the area.

Another EF-1 occurred near Gladden, Mo. with winds estimated at 100 mph. This tornado caused some uplift to a portion of a roof on a house near County Road 5510, which resulted in the partial failure of an exterior wall. The tornado then continued moving northwest where it completely destroyed a barn and small shed as it crossed over Highway N near Turtle, Missouri. The tornado uprooted many trees on its 5.84 mile path, snapping their trunks as it passed through.
