LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Local wakesurfer Victoria Moroski has added another major accomplishment to an already impressive year: world champion.

The 17-year-old represented Team USA at the 2026 IWWF World Wakesurf Championships in Hangzhou, China, competing in the Under-18 Skim division and bringing home an individual gold medal.

Team USA also won gold.

“Wow, what an incredible experience it was to compete in China with wakesurfers from 20 different countries!” Moroski said. “It was a dream come true.”

Moroski, who graduated early from Lake Christian Academy in the spring, is spending a gap year focused on wakesurfing competitions before eventually pursuing the medical field.

Her trip to China marked her biggest competition yet and gave her a chance to compete on an international stage alongside wakesurfers from around the world.

“I never knew wakesurfing could be on such a high-level platform,” she said. “Meeting people from different countries was the highlight. It was incredible how they all shared the same passion for the sport as I do.”

Her coaches, Sean Silveira and Whitley Roberts, were also with her in China.

“I feel so blessed that I had both my coaches next to me too!” Victoria said.

The world championship capped off a strong stretch of competition for Moroski. Before heading to China, she competed at the Nautique Masters Wakesurf Championships at Callaway Gardens in Georgia, where she took first place in the semi-pro women’s division.

But even with an individual world title, Victoria said the team accomplishment stood out most.

“Bringing home gold as an individual was a great accomplishment, but bringing home gold with almost a perfect score as a team was even bigger,” she said. “This was so much fun, and I hope I get the chance to do it again.”

Moroski first learned to wakesurf on Lake of the Ozarks at age 12 and has only been competing for about three years. Despite the places the sport has taken her, she has said her favorite place to ride is still at home on the Lake.
