Missouri's Most Controversial Politician? A Candid Convo With Sec. Of State Denny Hoskins
Take On The Lake, Ep. 52
Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins has had a wild year.
He’s been sued repeatedly. He got caught between conflicting state and federal court orders over Missouri’s congressional maps. The Missouri Supreme Court held him in contempt. And for a while, Hoskins says he genuinely wondered whether he might end up in jail.
So I invited him onto Take On The Lake to walk through the whole thing.
We unpack Missouri’s incredibly complicated redistricting fight from the beginning: the new congressional map, the referendum petition challenging it, why Hoskins waited until the statutory deadline to make his decision, the court battles that followed, and the bizarre stretch when different courts were telling him to use different maps.
Hoskins also explains why he believes Missouri’s referendum laws and election deadlines created a mess that lawmakers need to fix.
We talk about how a CPA from central Missouri ended up in politics, election integrity, his Christian faith, Amendment 3, divisions inside Missouri’s Republican Party, the growing influence of socialism on the political left, Donald Trump’s impact on the GOP, and where Hoskins thinks conservative politics goes from here.
And at the end, I give him a parting gift from my personal wardrobe.
Whatever you think of Denny Hoskins, he’s been at the center of one of the strangest years in recent Missouri political history. And I think you're going to enjoy this interview.
