MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — A Richland, Mo. man was seriously injured Saturday in a crash on Highway 54 that left his vehicle submerged in a creek.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 55-year-old man was driving a 2004 Chevy Malibu east on Highway 54 at around 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 31 when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, hit multiple road signs and a guardrail, went airborne, and rolled into the creek, the Patrol reported.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Authorities say he sustained serious injuries and was taken by Lake Ozark EMS to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
