EDWARDS, Mo. — A home on Pine Cove Road was destroyed Thursday while crews were responding to a natural cover fire and found the residence already heavily involved.
Northwest Fire Protection District was dispatched at approximately 11:32 a.m. on Oct. 29 to what was initially reported as a small natural cover fire in the backyard of a residence.
The first unit arrived at 11:45 a.m. and discovered a working structure fire. Crews immediately upgraded the response and requested additional resources.
Firefighters worked to suppress both the house fire and the surrounding natural cover fire. Northwest Fire said the terrain, location of the home, and difficulty establishing a sustained water supply made operations especially challenging.
Despite firefighters’ efforts, the residence was a total loss. No injuries were reported.
Mutual aid was provided by Deer Creek Volunteer Fire Protection District, Mid-County Fire Protection District, Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District, and Coffman Bend Fire Association. Northwest Fire responded with eight personnel.
The district thanked the assisting agencies for providing additional firefighters and water tankers during the incident.
