This latest freeze brought slick sidewalks, long icicles and — for one Lake of the Ozarks man — an unwanted excursion into the Lake. On Friday, Feb. 25, a Ford Excursion owner tested the limits of these nearly indestructible machines, when it accidentally slid into the Lake.
The man, an employee at Dog Days Bar and Grill, had parked on the edge of the restaurant’s parking lot. With the Excursion still running, he stepped out of the SUV… and then it started sliding. The refreeze had caused the parking lot to be a sheet of ice and the Excursion rolled down over the parking lot barrier and down the embankment, finally coming to rest in the frigid Lake of the Ozarks.
But miraculously, even after its dip in the Lake, the Excursion was still running! According to Dog Day’s chef, Kevin McCowan, the vehicle kept running the entire time and after the car was winched out of the water, its owner drove the vehicle up the walkway and back to the parking lot.
