LINN CREEK, Mo. — A lumber truck caught fire and was slowing traffic Thursday afternoon, on Highway 54 in Linn Creek.
The truck was headed west, towards Camdenton, on Highway 54 when it apparently had a blowout, after which it came to a stop against or near the guardrail on the left-side of the road, against the median of the divided highway.
The cab was disconnected, but the fire had plenty of fuel to feed it, with tightly packed lumber in the trailer. Firefighters were on the scene around 3 p.m. They worked quickly and appeared able to control the fire before the main bulk of the lumber caught.
Drivers on westbound Highway 54 coming into Linn Creek should be cautious, ready to stop, and should choose a different route if possible.
