LAKE OZARK, Mo. — The Community Foundation of the Lake and Community Foundation of the Ozarks are offering a free three-part virtual series focused on charitable giving, legacy planning, and philanthropy.
“Bringing Philanthropy Home to the Ozarks: A Participatory Workshop for Advisors” will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 21, Oct. 28, and Nov. 4.
The program is geared toward financial advisors, attorneys, CPAs, insurance agents, wealth strategists, and other professionals who help clients with financial, estate, and charitable-planning decisions. Nonprofit leaders, board members, donors, and other interested community members are also welcome to participate.
National philanthropy educator Philip Cubeta will lead the series. Cubeta is the founder of Philanthropy Offerings and previously served for 12 years as the Wallace Chair in Philanthropy at The American College of Financial Services, where he oversaw the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation program and taught legacy planning to more than 2,000 financial advisors and nonprofit gift planners.
The first session will focus on the nonprofit and philanthropic landscape, including how charitable organizations are funded, challenges facing nonprofits, changing giving patterns, and the anticipated transfer of wealth between generations.
The second session will center on values-based legacy planning and ways individuals and families can connect their financial resources with the people, places, institutions, and causes important to them.
The final session will cover charitable-planning tools such as donor-advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, private foundations, bequests, endowments, and gifts of appreciated or complex assets. Case studies will also show how advisors, nonprofit professionals, and community foundations can work together to meet financial and philanthropic goals.
The series includes three total instructional hours. Continuing education is available for qualifying professional participants, including CLE, CTFA, CPE, and CFP credit.
There is no cost to participate. All sessions will be virtual.
Participants can register through the CFO Professional Advisor Continuing Education Opportunity registration form.
The Community Foundation of the Lake works to support education, culture, health, and economic development in the Lake of the Ozarks community by connecting charitable resources with local needs and opportunities.
