COLUMBIA, Mo. — Former Lake of the Ozarks real estate agent Leigh Ann Bauman is once again in trouble, and this time she’s landed in rehab.
Bauman was reportedly seen in Columbia on May 19, 2022 drinking at a local watering hole, and witnesses called the Columbia Police Department, as reported by KMIZ 17. Court records indicate Bauman received a visit from the Columbia PD at her hotel room after receipts verified she had been at the bar drinking. After being tested by law enforcement, records show she had levels of alcohol and THC, both violations of her bond conditions set forth in Camden County Court in a 2021 murder-for-hire conspiracy case that made global headlines. Bauman is accused of trying to hire someone to murder her former mother-in-law; the former friend from whom she was allegedly seeking help in the murder conspiracy ended up going to law enforcement and is a key witness in the case.
Bauman had recently been residing in Connecticut with her boyfriend, as reported by Camden County Prosecutor Caleb Cunningham.
Bauman has been admitted to Valley Hope Rehabilitation Clinic in Boonville, after Cunningham filed a bond revocation on May 20, 2022. She is represented by attorney Daniel Dodson. Cunningham told LakeExpo that Bauman had checked herself into rehab of her own volition.
A bond hearing was held in front of Judge Kenneth Hayden on Monday, May 23 in Camden County Court, and Bauman did not appear. Her attorney advised the court that she was an inpatient at Valley Hope. Dodson gained a continuance on the bond revocation hearing to July 6, 2022, according to court records.
This is Bauman’s third bond violation in the murder conspiracy case.
She violated bond in September of 2021, by testing positive for THC. Prior to that, she violated bond by contacting her daughter in spite of an active protection order. She served 48 hours in Laclede County Jail in November 2021 for bond violation. At that time, she was told that future bond violations may result in a warrant for her arrest and detention until the completion of the case.
It is unknown how long Bauman will be in rehab at Valley Hope.
The jury trial for the murder conspiracy charge is set to begin in February 2023.
