LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Severe weather is possible in the Lake area Friday evening, with the chance for heavy rain, lightning, hail, and even a tornado, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS has issued a Tornado Watch for a large portion of central Missouri that includes the Lake area, in effect until 11 p.m. Friday.
The agency says the risk of a tornado is "slight," with a much more likely chance of lightning and excessive rainfall.
The storm-producing weather system moving through the area will leave unseasonably cool temperatures behind it, the NWS says. Saturday's high temperature is forecast to be 76 degrees, with a low of 67 and a chance for showers. Sunday will be sunny with a high of 83 degrees and a low of 65.
