Waterfront Homes On Lake Of The Ozarks

Waterfront homeowners at Lake of the Ozarks could get up to $2,000 to help with landscaping projects that reduce runoff into Lake of the Ozarks.

The Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance (LOWA) has teamed up with local master naturalists and gardeners to help develop beautiful, low maintenance, low-impact landscaping. LOWA receives government grants, which are then made available to property owners for certain improvements that directly affect water quality.

LOWA is reminding waterfront property owners to take advantage of the opportunity to get up to $2,000 in grant funds for landscaping to that end. Click here to learn more and apply.

LOWA says various landscaping techniques, including the use of Missouri native plants and flowers, can minimize the effect of water run-off.

Two other ways LOWA helps protect the Lake are the "Pump, Don't Dump" and Septic Tank Maintenance programs. RV users and boaters can properly dispose of waste at 26 approved locations around the area. By partnering with local services through LOWA, homeowners can get their septic tanks properly maintained at a discounted rate.

"For this body of water, as populated as we are, and the fact that we own right down to the shoreline, we have a clean lake," Swall said."It is up to us homeowners and tourists to be made aware of what we can do to keep the Lake clean."
