Zelda Haynes Obituary
Zelda Marie Haynes, 96, passed away on November 4, 2026, at Stonebridge Assisted Living in Osage Beach, Missouri. She was born April 1, 1930, in Independence, MO to James and Gertrude Cusick.
Zelda was a strong independent determined woman who lived life by her means until August of this year. She still was very independent until the last few weeks, when her body was just giving her more grief than she could handle. Her love for her family held no match to anything else. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of her life, and she looked forward to hearing from them or seeing them every chance possible. How many can say they were able to take not one, but two five generation photos in their lifetime.
She was a bookkeeper for a few auto dealerships back in the day until her and Billy retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. They loved to go square dancing, boating, and she loved crappie fishing. She also loved playing cards, bunko, and bingo. She recently had the most wins at bingo at Stonebridge. That was the one day you did not make any appointments for her and if you were not watching she was off and gone to the bingo room before you knew it. She watched the clock on bingo days and would leave you sitting in her room if you did not follow suit.
Zelda is survived by her children, Susan Moss (Bill), Larry Haynes (Karen), Lisa Stover (Bart), and daughter-in-law, Patsy Miller (Steve); her grandchildren, James Haynes (Amanda), Brian Miller (Susan), Amy Goode (Jeff), Matthew Haynes (Michele), Marshall McNally, Nicole Pittman, Kelly Pittman (Laura “Rudy” Rudolphi), and Kyle Pittman; eleven great grandchildren, Ryan Haynes, Cameron Haynes (James), Alicia Evans (Brian), Cole Walker (Amy), Jackson Goode (Amy) , Alexis Haynes, Kaylee Haynes, Connor Haynes (Matthew), Tyler Pittman and Alexis Pittman (Nicole), Landon Pittman (Kyle), and one great great grandchild Beckham (Cole), several nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Billy Haynes, her parents, and her son Ted Stephen “Steve” Miller.
