David Christopher Barry Obituary
David C. Barry, age 68, unexpectedly passed away November 3, 2026, in the home he built in Eldon, Missouri.
Dave was born May 13, 1958, in St. Louis, the son of Robert and Mary (Cratty) Barry. On October 30, 1982, Dave married his childhood sweetheart Susan Barry (Kline) in Hazelwood, Missouri. Together, they shared 36 amazing years of marriage until Sue’s passing in 2019. Their marriage, some of us would say- was a marriage to model after.
Dave’s younger years were spent in Bridgeton, Missouri with his parents and five siblings where he played baseball, soccer, ice hockey, and raised a ruckus in the neighborhood. In 1985, Dave and Sue moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area to raise their family. Dave worked in construction until he started his own contracting company Barry Construction. He served his community as a general contractor repairing and building for 20+ years and spent countless hours teaching his boys building skills and helping friends and family.
Dave was an avid sports fan. Before Sue passed of cancer, they enjoyed running and attending cross country meets. Many hours were spent coaching little league baseball and soccer for all three of his boys. He loved his wife and grandkids the most, but it was very rare for him to miss a Cardinal, Blues or Chiefs game. In his later years, when he wasn’t catching a ball game, he was on the golf course with his buddies.
Dave had a big sense of humor, much of which has passed to his boys. Some of their most memorable moments was their weekly tradition that was lovingly named “Pizza, Beer and Fighting Night.” This included homemade pizza, Busch beer and three sons tackling their Dad.
Dave was also a creature of habit. His parents, siblings, & their families started annual summer trips to the beach in the 1980’s that continued with his grandkids in tow.
Dave loved his church, Our Lady of the Lake, and was involved in Knights of Columbus as the fish fry dishwasher.
Dave is survived by his sons Jeffrey Barry, wife Rachel, children Simon and Harriet of Ava, MO, Jason Barry, wife Jachelle, children, Jackson, Jensen, and Jessa of Lake Ozark, MO and Travis Barry, wife Kaycee of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his siblings Jack Barry and wife Teresa of St. Paul, Mary Pat Geil (Barry) and husband Rich of Trophy Club, Texas, Dan Barry and wife Diane of Overland, MO, Nancy Yahl (Barry) of Kirkwood, MO, & Robert Barry and wife of Lori Marshfield, MO along with several loved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Barry, parents Robert & Mary Barry, Dan Barry (little Dan), and Tim Yahl.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Bestgen Hall, Lake Ozark, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Bestgen Hall with Msgr Greg Higley officiating.
