Handgun

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — Prosecutors have charged a subject with murder after the victim died from a shooting near Passover Road on Sunday.

Fernando Z. Hutchinson, 19, faces two charges, including 1st degree murder and armed criminal action, with no bond.

Officers were dispatched around 8:33 p.m. on March 31. Upon arrival, they found David C. Davis, 22, shot in the chest. They provided medical assistance until an ambulance transported him to the hospital. He died on April 1 from his injuries.

More details surrounding the shooting have been released by the Osage Beach PD:

Davis was reportedly sitting in a vehicle at Jetz Trampoline Park with 32-year-old Michael P. Watwood. Another subject, later identified as Hutchinson, approached their vehicle to allegedly buy marijuana, police say.

Hutchinson then reportedly reached in through the window, grabbed something, and took off running toward Autumn Hills apartments.

A chase ensued. Davis and Watwood split up, but it was Davis who caught up to Hutchinson near Kay Lynn Resort. Shots were fired and Davis was struck in the chest.

Hutchinson allegedly ran back to his apartment after the shooting, where officers later located him. Subjects who were detained reportedly told law enforcement that they were out of weed, and Hutchinson allegedly made comments that he was going to steal some.

Authorities recovered a handgun in Hutchinson's apartment following the execution of a search warrant.

Video footage and witness accounts from the investigation corroborate the incident, according to the probable cause statement.

The PC statement also noted that when law enforcement found Hutchison, he was wearing dark pants and a sweatshirt that said "Active Shooter." The color of the pants and sweatshirt match what surveillance cameras picked up, authorities say.

Hutchison has a criminal history of burglary and stealing a motor vehicle, the document noted.
