CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — After an Osage Beach Police Officer was killed during a high-speed chase last weekend, a Camdenton man has been charged with a Class A Felony. The charge is possible due to a new Missouri law that went into effect just a few days before the crash, called "Valentine's Law."

Camden County Prosecuting Attorney Richelle Grosvenor has charged Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, 23, of Camdenton, Mo. with the Class A felony of aggravated fleeing a stop or detention of a motor vehicle, causing a death.

Wehmeyer is charged for events related to the death of Osage Beach Police Officer Phylicia Carson. Officer Carson died in the line of duty on August 31, 2024.

The charge against Wehmeyer is based on 575.151, RSMo., which went in to effect on August 28, 2024.

Judge Heather Miller has denied bond.

The range of punishment for a Class A felony is not less than ten years, and not to exceed thirty years, or life imprisonment.

Grosvenor continues to ask the community for thoughts and prayers as this loss has impacted so many.
