CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — Police Officer Phylicia Carson's family have received a $100,000 settlement for her wrongful death in the line of duty last year.
The civil suit was filed on Sept. 24, 2025, on behalf of the Carson family in the Camden County Circuit Court.Â
The case arose from a crash on Aug. 31, 2024, when Officer Carson was killed during a high-speed chase in Osage Beach. She was 33 years old and left behind her husband and six children.
Christopher Wehmeyer, of Camdenton, was arrested and charged for events related to her death.Â
According to court documents, the 2025 wrongful death case was resolved with court approval on Oct. 30, and finalized with payment acknowledgment on Nov. 3. The settlement discharges all parties—Wehmeyers and their insurer—from any future liability related to Carson’s death, bringing the matter to a close just six weeks after the petition was filed.
While the civil case is now closed, criminal proceedings against Wehmeyer are ongoing. His next court date is set for Jan. 7, 2026.Â
