CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — The Grand Glaize Bridge will soon bear the name of Police Officer Phylicia Carson, honoring her service and sacrifice.
The Missouri General Assembly has passed legislation designating the structure as the "Police Officer Phylicia Carson Memorial Bridge." The measure was included in SB 348 and is set to take effect on August 28, 2025, once signed by Governor Mike Kehoe. The Missouri Department of Transportation will cover the cost of signage.
State Representative Jeff Vernetti, who helped push the measure through, called it “an honor” to support the designation for Officer Carson and her family. He noted the signs will go up in the fall, with a formal dedication ceremony to be announced later.
The legislation mirrors HB 107 and reflects continued efforts to commemorate those who have served and protected Missouri communities.
