Want to drive boats for a living? 

Lake of the Ozarks Captains Association (LOTOCA) is offering a $1,500 scholarship for two individuals who are ready to earn their entry-level boat captain license: the OUPV, also known as the "six-pack."

The scholarship will pay for the entirety of the World Wide Marine Training LLC (WWMT) classes required, and the classes are held here at Lake of the Ozarks, in Osage Beach. 

The LOTOCA Steve Sutton Scholarship is intended for individuals who are planning to be employed, or who currently work in the marine industry as a United State Credential Coast Guard Captain. One scholarship will be awarded up to $1,500 toward tuition for the classes: one in December and one in April.

Once the individual is approved for the scholarship, LOTOCA will notify WWMT of the approval. WWMT invoices the Scholarship Fund upon student attendance on the first day of class. The Scholarship Fund will issue funds directly to WWMT.

The scholarship specifically covers:

-OUPV 8-day course,

-Master upgrade, and

-Towing Endorsement.

Applicant Eligibility:

1) Applicant must currently or intent to work in a related marine position.

2) Married applicants must have a combined income of less than $50,000 annually. Unmarried applicants must have an income of less than $25,000 annually.

3) Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
