Everyone loves a tropical vacation: the sun, the water, and sinking your toes in warm, soft, white sand. Now Lake of the Ozarks homeowners are enjoying those tropical beach vibes right here at the Lake, on their very own property.
Since 2021, Shawnee Bend Sand has been creating white, sandy beaches at businesses and homes along the Lake of the Ozarks' shoreline, transforming them into unique tropical paradises.
Shawnee Bend Sand uses sandstone from their quarry in Sunrise Beach and crushes it into ultra-fine, versatile white sand that’s perfect for landscaping and construction needs. Gone is that awful coarse sand that's all too common around the Lake: everyone knows that sand that hurts your feet and just looks… well, brown.

In 2023, demand for Shawnee Bend's white sand outpaced supply! But owner Harry Adrian says they've caught up in the offseason, and now Shawnee Bend Sand has a large stockpile of white sand, ready for beaches or any outdoor space around the Lake that needs a tropical upgrade.
White sand from Shawnee Bend Sand absolutely transformed the beaches at 2Beaches RV Park (pictured below).
Shawnee Bend Sand’s white sand is ideal for anything from beaches and fire pit areas to volleyball courts and kids’ play areas. Thanks to this unique, locally produced sand, Lake area homeowners are creating their very own tropical vibes at home: turning rugged lake frontage into a personal Caribbean beach!

Beyond individual homes, Shawnee Bend Sand is also perfect for commercial uses like resorts, golf courses, pool construction, landscaping, and more. If you’ve been to Captain Ron’s or Frankie & Louie’s in the past couple of years, you might have noticed the new soft, white sand on their beaches. Yep! It’s Shawnee Bend Sand, and their customers are absolutely loving it.
Other major projects include transforming the beach at Ozark Yacht Club (recently purchased by Big Thunder), installation of white-sand beaches at the newly opened The Cave Bar & Grill on the Niangua Arm, and filling the volleyball courts with white sand at Patriot Point Marina on the Lake's 60 Mile Marker.
As a local company, Harry Adrian says he is proud to give back to the Lake community.
“When we were contacted by Wonderland Camp and asked if we’d donate our beautiful sand, we didn’t think twice,” Adrian said. In 2022, Shawnee Bend Sand donated over 57 tons of sand to the camp, which gives children, teens, and adults with disabilities the opportunity to camp and grow friendships.
“We wanted to revive a beach setting at Wonderland Camp so that campers could play in the sand and enjoy the waters of the Lake of the Ozarks, and we couldn’t have completed this project without Shawnee Bend Sand,” explained Mike Clayton of Wonderland Camp.
“They have provided us with the highest quality Caribbean white beach sand and our campers are going to love it when they come to camp this summer.”
Then, in 2023, Shawnee Bend Sand came through for Wonderland again, donating sand for the camp's volleyball court.

Here’s a breakdown: a dump-truck load will typically hold 15 tons, and that will cover 600 square feet with 6 inches of sand. The cost? Around $400 (depending on the delivery distance).
