The Newcomers/Longtimers are gearing up for their 24th annual Home Tour, set for this coming Saturday, May 19. The home tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring homes in both Porto Cima and The Villages. The tour is slightly larger this year with six houses hand-selected to be included on the tour.
The home tour is a benefit tour of premier homes in the Lake area that are not only beautiful, but also offer a variety of unique qualities and décor. Both full and part-time residents generously entrust their homes to us for one day so that the general public can tour them.
The proceeds from the tour will benefit Kids Harbor and the Lake Area Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.) out of Lake Regional which work cooperatively. Scholarships will also be awarded to adult students at the Lake Career and Technical Center in Camdenton looking to return to the work force. To date the Home Tour has raised more than $275,000 for local charities and scholarships.
One of the featured homes this year proves that rustic and contemporary can live in harmony. Patti, an interior designer, and her husband imagined and succeeded in designing a contemporary rustic style home. Beginning with “the natural fire pit as the focal point in the backyard counter-balanced with a dry flagstone creek and red bridge,” these rustic charms marry with the contemporary design of arches visible from the front door to the full decks on the back of the house.
Their number one goal for the exterior was to have fun on the water and not to have a single blade of lawn turf to mow. Rocks, stones, ledges of all shapes and sizes, designed by DNA, Deb & Nancy Gardening Coaches, surround small areas of artificial turf invented for dogs, which contain a charcoal filter base and a sprinkler system to keep it clean.
Home Tour tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance or $25 the day of the tour. You may purchase tickets in advance at the following locations –

A Via Cresta home on the tour features a complex steeply pitched gable roofline grounded by beefy columns clad in stone. The rough-hewn stone foundation, complimented with cedar shingle clad siding is reminiscent of the exterior architectural elements found on the homes at Cape Cod or Nantucket is a gem here at the Lake of the Ozarks.
