MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — A 7-year-old was flown to the hospital Monday morning after a crash involving a bicycle and tractor on Mt. Zion Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Versailles boy was riding a Fuji Bicycle around 8:30 a.m., Oct. 5, when he attempted to overtake a Case Maxum Tractor on the road, north of Highway HH.
The tractor, driven by a 15-year-old Versailles boy, was pulling a towed unit. According to the Patrol, the tractor traveled into a ditch and then returned to the roadway. During the crash, the towed unit ran over the bicycle and the 7-year-old rider.
The 7-year-old, who was reportedly not wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries. MU Air Care transported him to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.Â
The 15-year-old was not injured in the incident.
