Greg Hasty

CAMDENTON – Camden County Presiding Commissioner Greg Hasty will run for a second term, in this summer's primary election.

Hasty says he is running "to continue the progress the county has seen under his leadership." Hasty’s re-election campaign will focus on Promises Kept.

During his 2014 campaign Hasty promised Camden County residents that he would bring cohesion to a fractured county commission and address issues with planning and zoning and floodplain maps that were costing the county hundreds of thousands of dollars and threatening the property of residents.

Those matters have been resolved, and Hasty says that put the county on a path to a brighter future.

“I have done what I said I would do,” Hasty said in his announcement. “We have a fully functioning, cohesive commission. We have confronted the federal government to secure the property rights of waterfront homeowners and we are revising planning and zoning codes to reflect the realities of our county.”

Among his accomplishments in office, Hasty points to his leading the County Commission in authorizing the first significant pay raise for county employees in a decade. He also says he's helped the county institute "conservative, fiscally responsible budgeting and spending practices." Among them: an adjustment in bond financing for $4 million in much-needed repairs for the Justice Center will save the county thousands of dollars. Funding for the Horseshoe Bend Road District that had been improperly canceled has been restored. He also points to Planning and Zoning lawsuits that had been costing the county hundreds of thousands of dollars, that have been resolved.

Hasty has also called for a full-scale state audit of the county’s books. That audit is now underway.

“I want to continue to serve the people of Camden County and work toward a better future,” Hasty said. “Camden County has been my family’s home for seven generations and I want see the county prosper for the next generation.”

Hasty, who has been a surveyor for more than four decades, served as Camden County Surveyor for 18 years before being elected presiding commissioner. He has been a Camden County business owner for more than 30 years and served on the Camdenton Planning and Zoning Board for a decade.
