As we near the end of the year, there's plenty to look back on: good, bad, and... something else.
At LakeExpo we love looking back—during this time of year—at the amazing and occasionally bizarre stories we get to tell about life at Lake of the Ozarks. So we'll spend the last week of 2020 publishing some "Top 10 (or so)" lists, with the kind of stories that stick out the most to us, and were interacted with the most by our readers. We'll have some feel-good stories, critter/nature stories, business/development stories, and just plain popular news stories. But first, a popular category: 9 of the Weirdest, Wildest, Most Bizarre Stories from the Lake of the Ozarks in 2020...

#2 -- Could There Still Be Graves Beneath The Lake?
This was a story we published in 2019, but thousands of LakeExpo readers discovered (or rediscovered) it in 2020. The answer to the question is: "Almost certainly yes." But you'll have to read the story yourself, to find out why.

#7 -- Two Plane Crashes The Same Weekend
The Lake certainly has plenty of small aircraft coming in and out, but plane crashes are very uncommon. What's unheard of is two plane crashes on the same weekend. That happened in 2020 at Lake of the Ozarks. The first, a horrible tragedy, killed both people aboard. The second, only a day later, resulted in an ultralight pilot ditching into the Lake. He swam to the shore and the aircraft was lifted off the Lake floor a few days later.

#9 -- Stray Bullets — Passenger Hit In Neck On Y Road, & Concrete Truck Hit By Hunter’s Stray Bullet
Bizarrely, two vehicles were hit by stray bullets this year. The first incident happened this summer, when a passenger was hit in the neck by the bullet on Y Road. As far as we know, no one ever figured out where that bullet came from, and the driver survived, but had to receive medical treatment. The second took place during deer season, when a concrete truck driver suddenly heard the glass behind him break. The driver was okay, but surely hugged his family tight that night.
