CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — A bomb threat reported Monday at Camdenton Schools was later determined to not be credible and traced to an out-of-state juvenile, according to the Camdenton Police Department.

Authorities said a male caller from California contacted three Camdenton School District students—an 11-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl—by phone. During the calls, the individual allegedly threatened to bomb the school, telling them that no one would escape.

The students later attempted to identify the caller by returning the call through a group FaceTime, but the individual did not reveal his face.

Camdenton officers launched an investigation and worked with the Missouri Information Analysis Center to trace the phone number, which led them to Napa Valley, California. Napa police were then contacted and responded to the residence associated with the number.

The investigation revealed the caller to be an 11-year-old boy, who reportedly admitted to making the calls and the threat.

Local officers followed up with the child’s father, who confirmed the admission. Police said the juvenile has no known connections to Camdenton, no means of traveling to the area, and no intent to carry out the threat.
