LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Lake of the Ozarks boat racers Casey Boaz and Rob Unnerstall in CR Racing took the checkered flag on Saturday afternoon, in the competitive Super Stock class.
The class is for catamarans with twin stock outboards, at a maximum length of 32 feet, in a race with unlimited speed. The boats typically hit speeds in the triple-digits.
Shadow Pirate, the Lake Race 2018 winner, came out to an early lead, but CR Racing quickly overtook them. Boaz, who lives at the Lake, and Unnerstall, of Wentzville, Mo., kept the lead, with Shadow Pirate nipping at their heels, and Performance Boat Center close behind.
By the third lap, CR Racing had a stronger lead, with Shadow Pirate in second and Performance Boat Center challenging them by taking the outside track on the turns. Team Allen Lawncare and Landscaping and FJ Propeller fought for 4th and 5th.
Things got close in the final lap. Shadow Pirate pressed close on CR Racing, but was ultimately unable to make up the difference, and CR Racing finished in first place and grabbed the checkered flag.
