Lake Of The Ozarks Local Takes Home The Gold At Major League Fishing Tournament

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — The City of Osage Beach recently hosted the MLF Toyota Series on the Lake of the Ozarks March 10-12, bringing professional anglers, visitors and national attention to the region.

The Toyota Series is one of Major League Fishing’s premier tournament circuits and attracts anglers from across the country to compete on some of the nation’s top fisheries. More than 200 anglers competed during the three-day tournament, with the top 25 boaters and top 25 co-anglers advancing to the final day of competition.

Missouri angler Andy Newcomb of Camdenton won the tournament with a three-day total of 50 pounds, 7 ounces, earning $59,795 and qualifying for the Toyota Series Championship later this year. Newcomb secured the win on his home lake after entering the final day in eighth place.

City officials say events like the Toyota Series help showcase Osage Beach and the Lake of the Ozarks as a premier bass fishing destination while bringing visitors and economic activity to local businesses.

“This tournament brought anglers and visitors from across the country to our community and highlighted everything the Lake of the Ozarks has to offer,” said Economic Development and Marketing Director Eric Hundelt. “Events like this help reinforce Osage Beach as a destination for outdoor recreation and competitive fishing.”

“Tournaments like this not only showcase the Lake of the Ozarks but also bring meaningful economic activity to our city,” Mayor Michael Harmison said. “We are proud to host events that draw visitors to our community and support local businesses.”

Through the sponsorship, Osage Beach served as the official host city and Lake of the Ozarks as the official host fishery for the tournament.
