LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Big Surf, the iconic waterpark that has been a staple of family fun at the Lake of the Ozarks for decades, is undergoing a major transformation.

The park has been sold to Wheelhouse Waters, a company with a proven track record of revitalizing waterparks nationwide. Under the new ownership, Big Surf will be rebranded as SuperSplash USA and undergo a significant expansion, promising to deliver an all-new experience for visitors.

"We're committed to making SuperSplash USA a world-class destination, offering the best in family entertainment," said Scott Johnson, CEO of Wheelhouse Waters. "The Lake of the Ozarks deserves a family park that reflects its status as a premier vacation destination, and that's exactly what we're building."

“We’d like to give a special thanks to Darin Keim, the leading force behind Big Surf for the past 25 years, for his service in making the park one of the most beautiful and safest in America,” Johnson said.

Keim said he feels blessed, and while parting with Big Surf was difficult, he trusts the new owners’ vision. As a token of appreciation for his years of dedication, Keim and his family received a lifetime pass to SuperSplash USA.

Wheelhouse Waters plans to invest approximately $3 million this winter to expand the park, increasing its size from 13 acres to 20 acres. The expansion will introduce exciting new attractions, enhanced amenities, and an entirely new atmosphere themed around the spirit of the USA.

"From the Patriot’s Plunge, a thrilling 300-foot, six-lane mat racer, to a massive new kids' area called Adventure Reef, SuperSplash USA will be a completely reimagined park," Johnson added. "Every building, every ride, and all guest areas will have a vibrant, patriotic theme celebrating America."

The construction phase of the rebrand kicked off in spectacular fashion with a ceremonial water dump. Local officials, including Camden County Presiding Commissioner Ike Skelton and State Rep Jeff Vernetti, along with park General Manager Lindsay Perry and Johnson, were drenched with 500 gallons of water to mark the beginning of the project.

"What better way to kick off construction than with a little splash to let everyone know SuperSplash USA is on the way?" said Johnson.

Guests can expect lots of events at the waterpark, whether it's for veterans and soldiers, opening early for special-needs kids, or partnering with local churches and hosting baptisms in the wave pool.

A limited number of SplashPasses (season passes) are now available at special holiday rates, offering a discount of $40 from last year’s price. The SplashPass is valid for unlimited access to all the park attractions during the 2025 regular season.

"Our mission is to create affordable, wholesome entertainment that brings families closer together," Johnson said. "We can't wait for Missouri families to make lasting memories at SuperSplash USA."
