We all knew the traffic would be unpleasant.

"Next summer… going from one end of town to another is going to be extremely painful," MoDot Area Engineer Danny Roeger predicted to a group of gathered community leaders in Dec. 2025.

And it has been.

The project is slated for completion by Nov. 1, 2027.

The work is part of a multi-year effort to expand the highway from three to five lanes, adding two lanes of travel in each direction with a shared center turn lane.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $6.86 million contract to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC, to complete the project, which also includes drainage improvements, new curbs, and entrance approaches.

The project is slated for completion by Nov. 1, 2027.
