Another big name has joined the big guns aimed at regulating vacation rentals in Missouri.

Chelsea Clinton has joined the Expedia board of directors, according to CNN. The news agency reports directors each earned more than $250,000 in 2015.

While Clinton has not publicly addressed Expedia's legislative wrangling in Missouri, the online vacation-industry giant has pressed hard into Missouri House Bill 608, commonly called “The Expedia Bill.” The bill purports to protect transient home rentals rentals from being banned by cities in Missouri. But opponents say in reality the bill actually opens the door to regulations that would increase costs for homeowners who rent.

The Missouri Lodging Association—whose business is threatened by the vacation home rental boom—supports the bill. Missouri REALTORS—whose realtors sometimes point potential second-home buyers to the income possibilities of renting it—vehemently oppose it.
