Lower fuel costs mean a special charge on Ameren Missouri bills will be going down by about $2 per month.

The change in Ameren Missouri's fuel adjustment charge should take effect in June, state utility regulators announced Wednesday.

The special charge lets utilities recoup 95 percent of their fuel costs. It is adjusted three times a year based on changing costs in coal and other fuel, minus the proceeds from any electricity sales onto the grid.

The charges decreased $3 in January, the last time they were adjusted.
