The newest trailer is out for Martin Scorsese's newest film, Killers of the Flower Moon. The movie is set to hit theaters on Oct. 20, 2023.
The trailer is below.
The film is based on the 2017 book by the same title and focuses on the murder of Osage people for the oil beneath their land, in Osage County, Oklahoma.
Scorsese’s new film about the 1920 murders that ravaged an Oklahoma native American reservation got a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival.
Killers Of The Flower Moon is “Scorsese’s most innovative and best movie in decades." Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone. Exclusively in theatres October 20.
At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.

The Osage Nation lived in much of Missouri and Arkansas when Lewis and Clark made their expeditions through the region. They wrote of their interactions with the Osage. But over the years, the tribe was moved to Oklahoma.
In recent years the Osage have been working to reestablish a presence in Missouri through the construction of casinos: namely, a casino at Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake is the result of the damming of the Osage River, and the Osage Nation's footprint and history can be seen in imagery and names throughout the region, including the mascot of School of the Osage: the Indian.
Whether the Osage Nation will have success in gaining the federal and state approval needed to operate a casino at Lake of the Ozarks remains to be seen. But in the short-term, it seems indisputable that the film about the crimes against Osage people a century ago will be a success.
