ST. LOUIS • Someone set a police car on fire in the city's Dutchtown neighborhood early Tuesday.

Police say the 2005 Chevrolet Impala was parked in the 4000 block of California Avenue when it was torched about 4 a.m.

Investigators believe an unknown accelerant was used to ignite the fire east of Marquette Park near Osage Street.

Police said whether the police car was one of several they use to deter crime by leaving them vacant in certain areas.
