Missourians voted on five constitutional amendments, on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The two least buzzed-about amendments were Amendment 6 and Amendment 7.

Amendment 6

Missourians voted-down Amendment 6 by a wide margin. With 3300 of 3572 Precincts reporting, the amendment vote count was 60.1% against to 39.9% for.

Amendment 6 was put on the ballot by the Missouri legislature, in response to a 2021 Missouri Supreme Court decision that determined that a $3 fee on criminal and traffic cases to fund the Sheriff's Retirement System was illegal.

Because the Supreme Court found there was no clear legal authority for those fees to be added to court cases, the legislature proposed this constitutional amendment, to create that legal authority.

Amendment 7

Missourians approved Amendment 7 by a wide margin: 67.7% voting yes, with 3300 of 3572 Precincts reporting.

This amendment will add rules about voting into the Missouri constitution. It does three things:

-Specify that only U.S. citizens can vote

-Prohibit candidate-ranking (sometimes known as "ranked choice voting"), by limiting voters to one vote per candidate or issue

-Require the plurality winner of a party primary to be the single candidate at a general election
