WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Lake of the Ozarks area man is again facing federal charges for his involvement in the events on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. capitol.

Versailles, Mo. resident Matthew Loganbill's charges were dismissed by U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Wednesday, Aug. 16, after Judge Jackson determined Loganbill's right to a speedy trial had been violated.

However, the charges were dismissed without prejudice, which means they could be refiled. The same five charges against Loganbill were refiled a week later, on Aug. 23.

Loganbill faces the following charges:

• Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting

• Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds

• Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds

• Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building

• Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building

Loganbill is defended by federal public defenders Alexis Morgan Gardner and Elizabeth Ann Mullin. He has requested the dismissal of all counts except Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building and also requested a change of venue; those motions were all denied by Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The prosecution consist of Alexander M. Diamond, of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and Brian Daniel Brady and Douglas Spencer Meisel, of the Department of Justice.

Loganbill is set to be arraigned on Sept. 14, with a bench trial date set for Oct. 17.
