MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — Three people are charged with drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child, after authorities say they found marijuana and meth in a home near Laurie.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, on Nov. 10, deputies and detectives came to a home on Green Hills Road where Kelsey West and her two-year-old child were residing. West and her child had been scheduled for a hair follicle test the week before but the Missouri Department of Children Services says she never showed up, despite receiving a fuel voucher from the Division of Family Services.

After getting permission to search the residence, authorities say they found marijuana in and near the bed where the two-year-old was sleeping. Deputies say they also found a bag of white, crystal-like residue in the trash can, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.

West and two other individuals were arrested, and the two-year-old was placed into the custody of the Department of Children Services. The department later reported the child had tested positive for methamphetamine.
