OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — As storms and heavy rain moved through Lake of the Ozarks on Tuesday, a mudslide nearly sent parked vehicles plunging into the water.
Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, sources told LakeExpo about a concrete wall collapsing at Ozark Oaks Apartments on Links Road. Footage shows the wall as well as a portion of the parking lot had broken off into the Lake with cars parked right at the edge of the precipice.
The apartment complex is located around the 19 Mile Marker.
Emergency vehicles and a tow truck responded to the scene. All the cars were safely moved and the area was cleared and taped off about an hour later.
Osage Beach Police Chief Todd Davis said that according to the City's building official, the responsibility for the shoreline belongs to Ameren.
An Ameren official later reported that the clean up and rebuilding of the wall falls to the property owner. Ameren's role is to ensure compliance of shoreline management when repairs take place, the official said.
It is not immediately clear to what extent the collapse will impact Ozark Oaks Apartments.
