MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — A Lake Ozark man will spend seven years behind bars after pleading guilty to beating an Eldon man inside the victim’s home in 2015.

According to the probable cause document, on April 28, 2015, Anthony Mitchell entered the home of Kirk Bishop and began beating Bishop with a “club,” described as a stick of firewood.

Bishop suffered a broken arm as well as injuries to his head and face, and was hospitalized as a result of the incident.

On Jan. 10, 2017, Mitchell was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to Second Degree Assault in the case. As part of Mitchell’s plea deal, the state dismissed an unclassified Armed Criminal Action charge against him.

Miller County Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Winfrey thanked the Miller County Sheriff’s Department for its hard work in resolving the case.
