Duplex Fire 1/30

CAMDENTON, Mo.  — Authorities say an accidental fire damaged a duplex on Tuesday afternoon, and while the human residents were not at home, firefighters rescued several pets from the home.

The Mid-County Fire Protection District was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Ball Park Road at 1:52 p.m. Jan. 30. Upon arrival, firefighters found the duplex with smoke showing from the front door.

Responders were advised that the occupants were not home, but there was a dog, cat, and a turtle inside. A handline from Engine 911 was used to attack the fire while crews searched for the pets.

All of the animals were located alive and removed from the residence. The fire was marked under control about 10 minutes after MCFPD arrived on scene.

The incident was ruled accidental, and all firefighters cleared the area around 2:41 p.m. There were also no reported injuries.

MCFPD responded to the scene with three engines, two tankers, and a squad. Units from the Camden County Sheriff's Office, Camdenton Police Department, and Camden County Ambulance District assisted at the scene. Osage Beach Fire District moved an engine up to MCFPD's Station 1 to cover the district while they were on the call.
