A Brumley man will spend 10 years behind bars after admitting to restraining and battering a woman, and Miller County Prosecutor Ben Winfrey says he hopes this sends a message to the community.
After probation violation and plea hearings Brandon Truster was sentenced to seven years in prison for the Class C felony of Second Degree Domestic Assault and seven years in prison for the Class C felony of Felonious Restraint. Truster admitted to striking a woman and causing her injuries and holding her against her will which exposed her to danger.
Truster was on probation in another case for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and had been sentenced to ten (10) years in prison but that sentence had been suspended. The court ruled that his domestic violence offenses violated his probation and his previous sentence was executed. All Truster’s sentences were ordered served concurrently.
Miller County Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Winfrey pointed out, “Mr. Truster was granted an opportunity to live in the community but abused that opportunity.”
He added, “We hope this sends a message to everyone that my office takes probation seriously and we will not allow drug dealers or domestic violence offenders to go unpunished whenever possible.”
