LAKE OZARK, Mo. — In the spirit of its busy mascot, Beavers at the Dam is expanding, with the goal of creating a family-friendly entertainment complex.
Beavers General Manager Mike Shepherd says Beavers is growing, with the purchase of Casino Pier, which sits between the restaurant and the Bagnell Dam.
Shepherd says plans for expansion are still in very early stages. “We just acquired the property recently,” he said. The building would likely be completed in several phases, and Shepherd said no timeline has been solidified.
In addition to Casino Pier, Beavers acquired a boat that can only be described as legendary at the Lake: the Captain Larry Don.
“We want to try to rejuvenate the boat and make it into a floating bar,” Shepherd explained, adding the boat would likely be available to rent for private events, too. “It’s got some history to it for people who grew up around the Lake or coming to the Lake… the Larry Don was kind of the party boat,” he said.
For events such as Lake Race—hosted by Beavers at the Dam—the Captain Larry Don floating bar seems perfectly suited.
But beyond adult beverages, Shepherd says the vision for expansion at Beavers at the Dam has a family-friendly element, hinting a water slide could potentially be in the works.
“Overall, we want to keep it family-oriented and make it a destination right there at the Bagnell Dam, to bring families and fun back to that area, like it used to be,” he said.
