LACLEDE COUNTY, Mo. — The Camdenton school janitor found guilty of six counts of sexual misconduct with minors, Jesse Devore, has asked Judge Kenneth Hayden to acquit him. And if Hayden won't acquit, Devore is asking for a new trial.

Devore made the motion on April 25, and both sides discussed it with Judge Hayden in a phone conference on April 29.

Devore had been found guilty in Laclede County Court in early April of six counts of sexual misconduct with minors; some victims were children at the school he worked at in 2019.

Devore was also found guilty of exposing himself on other occasions in Camdenton at the Walmart Supercenter, his own neighborhood home, and the Camdenton Middle School, with the first offense dating back to 2013.

In addition to the motion for acquittal or—if the judge will not acquit—a new trial, Devore’s attorney Stacy Patterson filed for a continuance of sentencing on his behalf, with Camden County Prosecutor Caleb Cunningham objecting. Judge Hayden sustained the motion, and the sentencing date was moved to June 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. in Laclede County.

Patterson has also issued a motion to take a deposition, and a subpoena has been issued to Google from the court.
