CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — As the investigation continues into the body found near a vacation home in southwest Camden County, authorities suspect foul play was involved.

According to Captain John Stephens of the Camden County Sheriff's Department, "Preliminary autopsy results suggest the deceased was in fact the victim of a homicide."

Detetives with the county as well as Major Case Squad investigators are continuing to work on leads as the Medical Examiner works to positively identify the victim. But the sheriff's department says all evidence suggests this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to a vacation residence near Chapel Bluff Road after an acquaintance of the property’s caretaker found a body in the woods behind the home. The property owner had reported the caretaker missing last week after being unable to contact the caretaker by phone.

It has not been confirmed whether the body was that of the caretaker.
