3 Vehicle Crash Hwy 7 - NWFPD.jpg

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — One person was flown to the hospital after a three-vehicle collision on Highway 7 Thursday night.

The Northwest Fire Protection District was dispatched around 6:40 p.m., Nov. 6, for an accident with injuries near Granger Lane in Climax Springs. Upon arrival 10 minutes later, the crew found two vehicles involved in a head-on collision, with a third vehicle hundreds of feet up the road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 63-year-old man from Lake St. Louis had crossed the center and struck a Ford Maverick driven by a 65-year-old Edwards man. The Ford then hit a GMC Acadia driven by a 21-year-old woman from Brumley.

The Chevy went off the left side road and struck a tree, while the Ford and GMC went off the right side of the road.

The Edwards man was trapped in his truck, but fire crews quickly extricated him. He sustained serious injuries in the crash and was flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

The Brumley woman had minor injuries, and took private conveyance to Lake Regional Hospital.

According to the MSHP, the Lake St. Louis man was not injured. Arrest records from the same time show that 63-year-old William Hemrick was taken to the Camden County Jail on a 24-hour hold for allegedly driving while intoxicated resulting in injuries, and for failing to stay on the right side of the road, which reportedly led to the crash.
