Power flickered to Osage Beach businesses and residents on Tuesday, June 25 just before noon after a utility pole came crashing down atop a dump truck at Compass Pointe Condominiums, off Passover Road.

It appeared the truck had collided with a utility pole equipped with a transformer. Utility lines could be seen draped over and under the truck with the damaged transformer laying on the ground next to the vehicle and a concerned driver trapped inside.

A Osage Beach Police officer on the scene emphasized the importance of keeping people away from the area because transformers can contain hazardous and toxic materials.

The accident left more than 500 without power one point. Ameren crews were quickly onsite working to safely extricate the dump truck driver and restore power.
