LAKE OZARK, Mo. — A heavily trafficked intersection in Lake Ozark could soon be ripe for more development.

On Tuesday, April 26, the Lake Ozark Board of Aldermen approved selling excess right-of-way to Ozark Inns, at the corner of Bagnell Dam Boulevard and Osage Beach Parkway, across from CVS Pharmacy and Kohl’s. The property is on the site of the former Denny’s Restaurant.

City Administrator Dave Van Dee said the property’s owner hoped to buy the excess right-of-way from the city, raze the former Denny’s restaurant, and market the site to a national restaurant.

“We’ve been working with them, and we now have this agreement that we’re proposing, that would give them the option to purchase that excess right of way,” Van Dee said. “The appraisal’s already been done. We selected the appraiser, and they paid for it, and they will reimburse us for all the engineering costs when we consummate the deal.”

Van Dee said the sale of the excess right-of-way is set up as a renewable agreement.

“We won’t do the actual transfer until such time as they have a project,” he said.
