CAMDENTON, Mo. — Hot, sunny weather has been good for business at Camdenton’s Aquatic Center: revenues are up and expenses are down, according to Parks Director Larry Bennett.

Bennett gave his report at the second regular Board of Alderman meeting for Camdenton. Dry, hot weather has also been good for the tennis court project, with completion now expected in late July. A waiting period of at least three days between each asphalt layer and a three-week wait before finish work will extend the project another six weeks.

City Clerk Renée Kingston reported the city’s sales tax is up 12.9 percent over the same month in 2015 and 4.2 percent for the year-to-date.

Building Director Dennis Croxton admitted the City’s construction valuation is an anomaly as it is up 783.54 percent over the same month in 2015. Some of that value is the result of permits for townhomes and renovations, which Croxton says are indicators that Camdenton is making good use of properties in need of filling in and/or rehabilitation.

Both Chief Stark and Chief Wright reported fire and police calls were up this month in comparison to the same month’s data in 2015.

Public Works Director Jeffries told Aldermen only 134 tires, fewer appliances, and less brush were collected in the City’s spring clean-up. City Administrator Hancock attributed the reduced quantities to the waste disposal company’s monthly big-item collection. Nevertheless, the City will stage a fall clean-up, currently set for September 19-23.
