Keith 'Doc' Lucas

Lake-area resident Keith “Doc” Lucas was the lead medic assigned to A Company, 1140th Engineer Company during its deployment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom II, Feb. 2004–Feb. 2005.

Lucas is the Post Surgeon (Community Relations) at Camdenton VFW Post 5923. At the post and by keeping close contact with his old unit, Lucas is still helping veterans heal.

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — A local website design guru and avid Camdenton VFW advocate was chosen to receive the Hometown Hero Award for June.

Show-Me Homes For Heroes presented the honor to Keith Lucas, an Iraq Veteran, at an award celebration at the Redhead Yacht Club Lakeside Grill in Osage Beach, Mo.

“Thanks to everyone that came out to show appreciation for our Hometown Hero Keith Lucas,” said Mindy Molinar of Show-Me Homes For Heroes. “So nice to see so many great faces from within the community. KRMS-thanks for believing in this and making it what it is.”

The Hometown Hero award bestows upon recipients $1,400 worth of products and services from lake area businesses. 

The award is sponsored by Redhead Yacht Club, Vinson Mortgage and Harmy's Cheese Store with support from The Funky Buffalo, Sugar and Spice Bakery, Bad Donkey Tattoo, Pier 31 Marine, The Bull Pen, Surdyke, Ozarks Amphitheater, Bridgeport Marine, Pistols Plus, and The Butcher Shop.

Fun & Fundraising At The VFW Block Party

A block party event helped raise funds and awareness for the Camdenton VFW's expansion, on Saturday, Sept. 19. The VFW needs help finishing its new building, after contractor troubles and unexpected costs have left the project—and the entire local post—in limbo.
