At 9 a.m. the Wintz family, from Hartington, Nebraska, could be seen in their cove at the 21 Mile Marker attempting to pull 10 people - whose ages ranged from 9 to 44 - behind a Cobalt R7. Although it took three tries, they eventually got the job done.
"It was pretty amazing," said patriarch of the family Jim Wintz, 72. "One of my sons had a ski go in between his son's skis, but they managed to save it."
In previous years, the Wintzes have pulled eight to nine skiers at once, but the eldest son Paul suggested they try for 10 this summer. Paul and his brother Keith had to each use two mismatching slalom skis to make it work.

"All of our family likes to ski, and they usually begin at age 5 or 6," said Jim. "They love coming to Grandma's condo and going on Grandpa's boats. I drive all the time so my family can enjoy time together."
The Wintz family has been vacationing every year at the Lake since 1987, but Jim first visited in 1969 where he stayed at Lakeview Resort. Now he spends about three weeks of the summer here with his family, which includes 19 grandchildren, after buying a condo at the Knolls Resort Condominiums.
"I bought a pontoon boat so when we have over 20 people here, we can all go out together," Jim said. "We average about 85 motor hours a summer."
This family will continue to soak up the summer fun during their last week with skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. Jim and part of the crew might try to come back in August or September for more end-of-the-season enjoyment.
